Pick how each line goes

• Every tax and every kind of spending is one budget line, showing its real 2024 amount and where that figure came from.
• Pick one option for each line: grow with the economy, stay frozen at the 2024 amount, go up 10 percent, or go down 10 percent.
• Pick "Your own numbers" to type your own yearly amount in billions of dollars and how fast it should grow each year.
• Click a line's name to read its own US Budget Machine page, which explains what it is and who gains and loses when it moves.

Set the economy

• Pick how fast the economy grows each year and what interest rate the government pays on its debt. Both are assumptions you choose, not forecasts.
• Interest is not a line you pick, because it is worked out every quarter from the debt and the rate you chose.

Save and run it

• The first-year box at the bottom updates as you pick, so you can see the money in, money out, interest and shortfall straight away.
• Name the budget and press Save this budget. It is kept in this browser only, so press Copy a link to this budget to keep it anywhere or send it to someone.
• Press Run it in the Budget Build Projector to see it quarter by quarter for up to ten years.
