Gaps in the Budget
In development
A gap is something the federal budget does not show, or shows only in a form that hides its size, that adds to the debt or could pay it down.
How to use this page — step by step
Reading a gap
- Gaps are grouped under the part of the US Budget Machine they belong to, and the ones not tied to a single part come last.
- Each gap says whether it adds to the debt or could pay it down, which outcome it sits under (the Debt or GDP), and which goals it serves: reducing the debt, reducing inflation or reducing the cost of living.
- Open a gap to read what the budget does not show, the named examples underneath it, the opening it leaves and the sources the figures came from.
Doing something with one
