Congressional Elections

Double-check each reference to a bill or law to be sure. Check that the politician’s name exists on the actual congress.gov reference and that the name is right. Searches sometimes give false results. Asking about a bill or law in a Google search will validate the data even better by correlating the data.

This page lists the elections that are coming for the United States Congress, and the names of the people running in each one. Press a name to see what that person has done in public office: the jobs they have held, the laws they helped put in place, and the bills they put their name to. Looking for a local race instead — a mayor, a council, a school board, or a judge? See Local Elections.

Everything here comes from official public records, and every fact has a link so that you can read the original for yourself. Nothing on this page ranks anybody, scores anybody, or tells you who to vote for. It only shows what the public record holds.

How to Research a Political Candidate Before You Vote

Before you vote for anyone, it helps to search the internet for a few simple questions using their name. These are the questions that show what a person running for office has actually done, not just what they say about themselves.

What government offices has the candidate held, and for how long?
Which other people who already hold government office support the candidate?
Which bills has the candidate supported?
Which bills has the candidate opposed?

It also helps to ask these same four questions about the people who already hold office and support this candidate. Doing that gives you a clearer picture of what the candidate is likely to do in office, because people who support each other in politics often want the same things done.
